To call Madagascar from the US, dial 011 - 261 - two digit access provider - seven digit phone number

261 is the country access code for Madagascar.

The two digit access provider is

Phone numbers are seven digit long in Madagascar. You dial seven digits for any call within the country. The first two digits represent a geographical area:

It is customary to express the seven digits in groups of two, three and two, as in 22-345-39. This numbering scheme has been introduced on October 31st, 1997.

Time Zone

At noon PST, it is 11 PM of the same day in Madagascar. At noon PDT, it is 10 PM in Madagascar. The Malagasy clock is set at Universal (Greenwich) Time plus 3 hours year around. There is no summer/winter clock change since the length of the day varies little in the Tropics.

Business Hours

8 to 12 and 2 to 6 (Banks: 8 to 11 and 2 to 4). Stores and businesses are closed during lunch hours and for the following holidays:

March 29th Martyrs' Day.

May 1st Labor Day.

June 26th Independence Day.

November 1st All Saints' Day.

December 30th Anniversary of the Republic.
